I'm too old at 34 IMO but your just a pup at 33!!!. I wake up most mornings with my back on fire. my knees groaning and I'm really starting to feel the effects of gravity.

If you make strange grumbling noises when putting on yer socks it might be time to think again.

The aerial rescue would be good for you though. Driving licence first though Chipper!!!

Of course first things first driving then climbing thanks.

I think as long as you are fit, strong and healthy then age doesn't matter. I have seen guys in there early 50's still climbing at a very good standard.

Hi chipper have you tried getting in touch with RJM trees they are often hiring and based in exeter, and they also work away alot so all you need do is get there first thing monday and they would provide digs for the week, they work all over the country, mainly commercial, network rail-highways etc

chris jenkins is the contracts manager, might be worth a try:thumbup:

I'd say go for it Mike! I did my climbing tickets at the end of last year at 36.

Two of the lads on my course were young enough to be my sons!

Don't forget when you do get your tickets to wave two fingers at the people who doubted you could do it

I'm 52 and still climb when I have to, which thankfully isnt to often, If you want to do it, go for it, "you cant do that" is like a red rag to a bull to me, I'll do it just to proove them wrong

Probably in a better condition than some 33 year olds that have been climbing for years with old tec's & attitudes employed for many years. (myself included in some ways)

Go for it fella if thats what you want. Dont know unless you try eh!

I do agree with some of Andy Collins words though..

Some of the best climbers I know are 35 plus..However they are very experienced & in some cases freaks of nature imo..

Again, best of luck & keep us all posted as to your progress..

Hi Chipper. I'll be 50 in ten years and I would say that I was too old to climb 8 years ago!

That's how my body feels anyway, however, before I was an Arb I was a pro windsurfer and that really rubs the body the wrong way. Especially as back then we didn't know about Pilates or Yoga and didn't even bother doing basic stretching.
