heavy saws and out dated imo...they maybe the king when it comes to power but personally a ms 66 or a 395 with a 36" bar would be my choice id rather double cut than spend the day using a 88 or 3120 in big wood....

They also have a tendancy to go bang ive personally blown a 3120 and my mate the same ms88 3 times in 1 year!stihl rebuilt it under waranteevery time but it cost him a lot of down time..saying that i did a service on my old mans at crimbo and it ran like a dream and is 6 years old!

I'm cutting some big chesnuts and wanted a saw with 36in bar but dealer bit my hand of on price. i'm running a second hand stilh from 1978 it's over 10kg with 20in bar. so wanted a bit more power for easy logging and safer felling.

Hi everyone,

I have recently put on order an ms880 with 48in, 36in & 25in bar. Can anyone let me know the good/bad points of owning one and their ideal uses.

Thanks

all good mate,

i personally wouldnt bother with any other bar than the 36inch.

keep the big saw for big stuff and use an 046 with 25inch bar for the other.

imo:001_smile:

snap

660 is a nice size saw as someone else said....but my 460 with 25" bar does pretty much everything i need.....if the 880 comes out its because its a huge tree.
