I bought a second hand one on ebay for £180 about 4 years ago. It made our hourly rate convert from around£11 to £22 on a post and 4 rail job. I think 51mm is the smallest nail a 350 model will do. If you are going to be nailing up in cold weather it may be worth getting the new more expensive model. It operates at lower temps and has other features. I put my gas in my pocket or other warm place to warm up, if its not firing.

Can't be sure about this, but have read that although cheaper nails might not be a problem, apparently the gas does not have the adequate lubricating capacity that paslode does, not easy to argue either case without being a scientific mechanic!!!

Also have found that cheaper nail packs sometimes have thicker paper holding nails together and jam up gun all the time......not much fun!!

Chainsaw use is very little of what I do, I'm not qualified for that argument, but doesn't that belong in another thread

When I've run that nailer for a year. I'll post a review, and let you all know my honest experience, but at 250, will pay for it self in one job.

So i decided against the nail gun i mentioned as i found the hitachi nr90gc2 available for cheaper. 2 batteries, 2 year warranty, £250 delivered, will let you all know how i get on with it.

bought my first plaslode out of the local admag three years ago for £150.

its worked perfectly until this winter when it stopped firing.

Took it to my local hire shop and he got it fixed (simple, 'o' ring had perished) and serviced in an hour.

We've got two now, plus the finishing nailer.

Don't know if you'd get the same fixability with a Hitachi, although their power tools are good quality (we've got two jigsaws and an half inch router)

Ditto with the O ring. Got the service kit for about £12 simple diy fix as well.
