Measure twice, cut once has to be one of the classic dad sayings. One that my dad, the joiner, used to say; despite on one occasion cutting too much off a door, spending ages planting a bit back on, and then cutting off too much again...

I measured twice today, and as the cut was going through, the chain hit the screw that I'd measured was going to miss by 10mm or so. Measuring to the right point on the mill also helps:blushing:

So, I'd like to offer up the new version, that I'll no doubt be saying to my kids.

Measure twice, send a photo to your mate to check you're not being a cock, measure it again, really really think how much you want to put a new edge on 46 teeth in the field, measure again, then cut.

My dad was a joiner, youre post made me laugh! I remeber sawing wood up with his saw and only using about three inch of the blade :lol:

He used to say whats up with the rest of the saw? :001_smile:
