Ideal workshop space??

So what's everyone's thoughts on the ideal workshop space?

 

Looking at setting up a new workshop and been looking at sizes. But the square feet thing confuses me a bit..

 

So forfeiting saws and mowers. What size would anyone recommend getting???

Mine, when its finished!, will be around 4.5m long x 2.5m wide with 7.5ft high front doors and a 7ft x 3ft pedestrian door garden side (can you tell i get peed off with hitting my head on my current shed!)

 

Its an odd one insomuch that it used to be an indoor koi pond with a timber and polycarbonate building over the top. The pond was block built and so required some bashing around and filling up with hardcore to make it work. Then I redid the roof and clad the sides. Doors were made to size and have been out there for about 12 months now, need to concrete the floor this month and finally get it finished for the 2013 season.

 

I should really be out there now and not doing paperwork but such is life

Surely the bigger the better. Ideally you would have a massive shed for stuff & a smaller insulated worshop/ office bit also inside.

 

Think my dream shed would be this one:

No such thing as to big a workshop but there is such a thing as to cold a workshop.

I would have to look and say yes there is such a thing as too big a workshop.

 

Unused space would wind me up and I would end up filling it with stuff I would never use and then it would end up cluttered.

 

And don't even start on paperwork James. My front room looks I've a bomb has hit it. Need to get it tidy before the missis comes back from town

I couldn't agree more, I have an 8 x 6 shed full of clutter which needs another going through before any of it makes it to the new workshop

 

I look forward to the day when things are organised, shelved and lockered...

Well I did start out not he coffee table but it has slowly spread to the floor and now the living room door. I'm just glad my boy is at school or the tax man would be getting scribbles of "me and my dad" with pictures.

This is one I've just designed for my boss, space for 2 cars, pit in the middle bay and workshop space at 1 end, 7.3 x 9.3 overall footprint.... once it's up I'm wheeling my Disco in to do the clutch. Slab has been powerfloated today! :thumbup:

My workshop is on the huge size and keeping junk at bay is a constant battle
