while were on the subject of community spirit, i felt a right plonker last week, i call a couple of times a year with an old guyto give him a brace of pheasants, knocked on the door only to be told by his grandson that he died a couple of days before, didnt know where to put myself.

There's no shame in admitting domestic violence Bob, you don't have to put up with it, there are thousands of battered husbands up and down the country.

Lyn Ed, I had a similar experience last year.

can see your point dean about people going out needlessly in these conditions, went to do a fencing job yesterday had 3 ton digger on trailer and hole borer, we couldnt get up a hill to get to the job so pulled the machine off and tracked it up, but the amount of numptys coming down the hill in cars just to go down the shop and buy all the milk and bread was rediculus, its these dickheads who drive 500 yds down road to go to shop that make it more difficult for people who genuinely need to get about.

Sorry but it all depends on how important what you are doing is to you!!!

Was it really neccessary to tow a 3 ton digger in these conditions?

Very high risk i would say especially if you couldn`t get up a hill with it on!!

I hope the digger was road registered and Insured to travel on the road?

It might have been that the people were unable to walk the distance or even they were doing an shop run for all the people they have cheacked on that morning, u know good neighbour and all that:biggrin:

i have lost count the amount of times i have done that. its when some old person leaves a message on the answer machine but you can hardly make it out except for the surname. so when the wee lady answers and i say is that mrs smith, and she says yes, then i say i think mr smith must have called me today. then she bursts out crying explaining mr smith has been dead for 4 years. try backtracking out of that.

Sorry, but the way work is around here it was important for us to try and get

to the job

all the main roads were clear it was just the one hill we couldnt get up.

when we got to the hill we realized it would be HIGH RISK so thats why we didnt attempt it, and for the sake of the 200yds i had to track it i was prepared to take the risk.

the point i am trying to make is that most of the people who came down the hill then passed back up 10 mins later and i doubt if they were all doin a shop run for neighbours
