Anyone use a Truncator?

Just came across these - looks interesting.

Prices range up to £294 for their largest model.

 

Anyone got any practical experience of them?

I think the jaw type are better, the simply hold the log by the end.

 

You can cut to what ever size you want and the logs just fall to the floor.

I like the hinged nature of the thing, but it's far too small.

It would need to hold at least 5times more wood and hinge in maybe 3 or 4 sections, not all individually for my liking.

I think it looks like more hassle and fiddling about than just clogging. I am looking at it through commercial forestry eyes though.

Bet this would be ideal for city folks with electric saws! And no I'm not being facetious I honestly mean it.

Pointless thing for me though Good product looks well made. Bench height looks adjustable as well

Agree with most of the comments here.

 

I'd say it may be a good tool for a small scale firewood merchant. A bit OTT for an own-wood logger and certainly not up to large scale processors but i reckon with one of these and a compact tractor with loader, as they use, I could process faster than my dad's current method of wheel barrow and circular saw.

 

I would definitely extend those cups so you could fit more on, along as the subframe could take it.

I think there are other saw horses that cost a lot less that I would rather have than that one.

I don't get it looks more hassle to use than the saw bench i made from an old pallet & it only fits one small branch?
