Snow socks?

I'd say snow tyres if you must go out in it. My missus is a paramedic and they fit them on ambulances from November and swap back in March. They really make a huge difference, as she found out yesterday when she was out in one with summer tyres on...

Another option is the synthetic 'chains'. A bit of a compromise, but more practical on cleared roads.

Jollywell serves you right for getting rid of the mog!

Seriously though, invest in a set of snow tyres, then take them off in March and that gives you all summer to look for a set of spare rims to fit them on, next winter it will take you half an hour to fit them and off you go!

True but don't snow tyres last about 10mins when on the tarmac?

My wife has winter tyres on her car as she's a nurse so must get to work. They were £60 each and are excellent in snow, ice and the wet. Due to them being so good in the wet we leave them on for most of the year. They appear to were well but a little bit noisier at speed but nothing to worry about. They are so good I would rather be in the car than the Landy in snow and ice unless it's proper deep. Probably a bit pricey for a truck but it's not money down the drain as we all need tyres and their wear rate seems fine.

So different tyres sound like the way to go.

Bigdave, what kind of tyres do you have on you trucks?

Do have them on the front aswell?

I hate that even in the summer a Transit will get stuck on wet grass unless its pointing downhill!
