Clothing Waterproof

That's the idea I've got. Use the same principal on my shooting tweeds and my wife's musto buckdens, so see no reason why it shouldn't work on the rest of my stuff...:thumbup1: when I treat myself to some new saw trousers they'll get scotch garded before I wear them..... In my head this is a GOOD PLAN!

Only problem with scotch guard is that the product has to be reapplied after every laundry:thumbdown:, can get a little expensive. The Gortex uniforms seem a better investment and will still allow your body stay dry and warm. Just remember to still keep yourself hydrated.

Only problem with Gortex is when it gets dirty it stops working, so I'm our line of work that's no use. I know this be aide I had 3 Gortex jackets and couldn't understand why the didn't work.

the goretex can't breath when the garment is dirty. this results in the operators sweat building up on the inside of the jacket making it seem like the jacket is leaking.

regular cleaning is the key.

and the scotch guard can (so i have been told) last three washes.

but i have just applied some fabsil (silicone based product) to my kayaking cag.. when i run it under water, i pull it away and there is not even a bead of water there!!!

i have read on the Internet some where about painting ya coat with ronseal but i am not to convinced!!

Have a look at the flexothane. Its extremely light very flexible as it stretches and completely waterproof. I have had gortex and pertex and one day this summer went through 4 jackets because of the rain.

Bought the flexothane suit (jacket and bib n brace trousers) and despite the worst of the weather have been completely dry all day.

Flexothane Bib and Brace - Waterproof Work Overtrousers

Bib and brace far better than just the trousers as you spend all day pulling them up.

Get alot of my work clothes from these chaps. No arb stuff as I like to use sponsors on here.

I find as well that a larger flexothane jacket size suits me better for stretching and feeling more comfortable for all day work.

Had the flexothane coverall suit as well which I liked but not good when doing heavy sweaty work as you feel like you've stepped out a used condom by the end of the day.
