    • No offering people a choice confuses and they often buy nothing
    • Yes alot more people are looking for value
    • No we tried ugly kindling before and it did not sell
    • No it cost more to transport and store

We tried it and called them joiners offcuts in log size bags and half the price of kindling. Never worked ended up just losing premium kindling sales. Even put 20 bags into local farmers weekly auction and did not even get a bid. Eventually chipped and turned into briquettes.

I saw some on ebay not long since, weren't you was it?

Steve, one of my local competitors who prides himself on selling kiln dried logs, sells 10 litre nets of "natural kindling" for £7.50!! He built a tumbler to go on the end of the conveyor of his processor which takes all the loose bark and stuff off and as far as I am aware this is the "natural kindling".

I sell nets of kindling that I have made from old pallets, 9KG net for £3.50.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with your new stuff but joe public has other ideas. I think finding the market could be a problem - a bit like the product of the TR70 log chopper:great machine but would public buy the product??? Probably not!!

Good luck with whatever you decide anyway.

I think it's going to vary a bit on where you try to sell it into. Round us I'd have thought it would sell fairly well as price seems to be the seller for most things as it's not a hugely wealthy area. Bif closer to York and there's more money but then people are more fussy too.

could you not market it in the summer as Chimnia fuel?

I reckon the TR70 produce would be ace chiminea wood :thumbup1: Just don't think I could shift enough to make it worth while. Really do like the concept though.

We had thought of it and one of our bag suppliers sent us some really nice nets with big colourful band saying chimnia logs in 4" letters looked good. People who use chimnias often have never lit a fire in their lives so simple fuel like this is ideal especially if they are nine parts to the wind.
