Good Andy, but you are no.1.

What you survived & battled through no could tree test you that way. I'm proud to know you Andy & call you my friend

Yeah, and I couldn't have done it without the support of many others :001_smile:

Right that's all the Chrimbo cheer and goodwill out of the way, can we get back to normal settings now please :001_smile:

I have no opinion on such matters..we all love trees in our own way and as climbers all have different specialities and different skills...my favourite motto is from Stephen Blair,"its not how fast you are at getting there...but what you do when you get there" or somethibg along those lines...and that sums up my thoughts on the matter....I do however admire the work of RCO...his calm,no nonsense approach to his craft is Legendary and i have studied his videos at great length...

I'm gonna have to go all crawly bum lick on Steve bullman .. We really had no were to go before this most of us hung out on the U.S forums .. Not really fitting in .. Well that's what it felt like to me they are just different, not in a bad way , I loved my time in the tree house!

Any way over the years I have probably picked more up off him... 7 or so years ago him and tim pretty much convinced me to stick and get used to the VT , rope guides ect and that was probably the biggest advancement I have made in my climbing career.

Also he sorted me out with a set of spikes when I ran mine over and in general just providing this forum to meet like minded arbs and make some of the high lights of my year happen would not of been possible with out arb talk..So ill have a Christmas drink to you Steve ! Cheers mate.

David you may come a close second for all your work on fungi .. Now I'm diagnosing problems in trees and not just turning up to climb them, your referances on here have been invaluable!

To many good tree workers about to put them in any order but I can say its often a pleasure and never A chor to work or climb with most people !

Couldn't agree more Matty, good shout regarding the forum and the captain who steers her :thumbup1:

We're (in the most part) here to learn and share. Personally I continue to grow as an arb and I'm indebted to the opportunity to develop both on the education and the sharing front.

Perhaps the emphasis of the thread has been lost in translation or inception, either way it doesn't harm to show appreciation to the ones that inspire us in which ever field that may be.

I raise my glass (currently a Codorníu Brut Cava) to one and all who journey on the good ship Arbtalk.

Cheers :001_smile:

Until I saw Mr Humphries waffling on about all his joyous tree stuff I didn’t know there was anyone out there who had such enthusiasm for the job. (Even though he’s kinda management and not a hard arsed climber like us)

I am still grumpy and miserable as you all know and will never have his enthusiasm.

I do however find it comforting to know that it’s out there, a bit like a nice warm coat or a duvet

This applies to Tony and some others too like Matt who keeps all the country lanes and paths open

So I’ll raise one to David and the others….Arbtalks nice warm duvets:001_smile:

I agree with Mr Blair for once, and I'm being polite.

My top 4 are real climbers and not internet climbers, and they don't include me.

Mat (Cheshire), Carl (Cheshire), Zander (London) and Mike in NZ (Keri Keri}.

Edit: And Mr ED before he got fat podgy and greedy:001_smile:

Is that Zander the dude in his 50s, old school? If we are on about the same guy, I know a few guys that used to work with him. Apparently he is bloody rapid still!
