pole climbing competitions

Hi there im really interested in entering some pole climbing competitions this year i have never done it before and only have regular spikes wanted to have a go at the APF but chickened out. i have found one at the east anglian game and country fair and wales wood fest aslo not confirmed but possibly capel manor festival of trees so if anyone could help me out much appreciated.

Brian Bartow Pole Climber - Mountain Hardwear's The Expedition Republic

 

Here's a video of Brian Bartow pole climbing last summer in Seattle. His dad did a great clown act in the timber carnival that day.

 

There is also a scene in a John Wayne movie where he climbs a pole to win the event. Anybody seen that? I have it on DVD, but don't know how to convert it to MPEG format.

I saw 'North to Alaska' a week or so ago, the pole climbing is a really good scene.
