I actually switched from arb rope to climbing rope for a 2 year period. Used a Petzl shunt as an ascender/descender. Was highly frowned upon in that configuration but it worked really well.

 

What rope are you planning to use with the cougar for the blakes hitch?

 

 

Steve, could you elaborate on that a bit more?

 

Just out of curiosity mind. I know you're a solid climber, and I like "outside the box" ideas.

I wish I had pics Joe, but from memory I had a 20cm tape sling with a biner on each end. One biner on the saddle, the other biner attached to the eye on the shunt and also the end of my rope. Was at a perfect length to hand over hand.
