The terms of a restricted licence are nothing to do with the size of the company, it the way the vehicles are used. For instance an owner driver engaged in haulage work would need a full o licence, but a large company who only use their trucks to transport their own goods wouldn't.

You specify the arrangements for maintenance, then they tell you if your proposal is acceptable or not. You could do the inspections yourself, if you have the relevant qualifications or experience and facilities to do the work.

There is a table to help you work out the frequency of inspections, mileage on one side and type of work on the other. Somewhere between 4 and 12 weeks depending on what you decide is appropriate.

cool , cheers - this is something for the new year:thumbup:

Go down the right route and get regular inspections instead of trying to find a loophole, you have a duty of care to other road users for one, and you will only put off maintainance if it's needed, I see plenty of clapped out horsebox lorrys that shouldn't be on the road, driven by dumb blondes that shouldn't be on the road either :001_smile:

Again thats wrong, if its private you dont need an "O" licence of any kind and the categories are UK restricted, UK national and international

was looking for a 'treework' point of view so overlooked the other users out there. the fact my lass can drive a c reg horse box truck that sits down the stables that looks like a death trap says alot about the rules n regs
