In watts it should be around 65w, i have never seen a noticable loss of power, i am not a lover of heated carbs so would remove it, it is just not required in the UK, pre heating fuel can cause all sorts of issues.

I have never needed the carb heating up here - and not all "G" saws have it. Some times it varies between different markets if the carb heating is part of the package.

Don't believe we are talking about heated carbs?

But if you do have a saw with a heated carb beware if you leave it on it will seize your saw

No more than 2 mins I believe it says in handbook

I disconnected heated carb on 372 but all my saws that can have heated handles have them and I leave them on until my fingers are burning

I remember from the non-strato chainsaws era, like with our Jonsered CS2152 generation, (Husqvarna 353 equivalent), the heated versions also had a resistor element attached to the carburator.

I guessed the same were the case for the current XPG models, but looking into the IPL, it seems only the handles are heated npwadays. Seems reasonable, and with the arrival of electronically adjusted carburators, one would expect a wider operational range without disturbances. Opening up the winter plug also, most likely cover up for any possible air filter icing problems.

I bought a 550XP four months ago...its been back to the dealer as its a very poor starter, but the problems persist

...in fact I've now got tendon problems in my right forearm because of it. Its great when its running...but I have no place for such machines when I need dependable chainsaws on site. I have just swapped it for an old MS260. I won't entertain another 'electronic' carb saw...I've had 2 bad purchases this year, not happy :(
