Just watched that twice. He throws his climbing line up then attaches it. He then pulls up on the line and comes around the tree. Then takes the flip line off and down he comes.

 

Does look like he only attaches one end of the line to himself. If you look when he throws the line up he onto attaches the end he has hold of not the end he threw up.

he looks like he put his lanyard line on the small branch to change position, then undid it once he had come back around, its as if he thought it was his side strop and his main anchor point was in....then thought 'whats this flip line doing here?'

 

Hot weather and dehydration are the enemy's here.
