went to watch a car rally this morning and at five to eleven they stopped the cars starting the stage so that the cars that were on the stage would be finished by eleven, it was funny that from all the noise of the rally cars and generaters in the service area everything fell silent at 11 oclock for 2 minutes, but up the road there was a motorbike enduro on which kept going, obviously didnt have the same respect.

i was putting up the Christmas lights in my local village of Newly , 11.00 came and not a sound could be heard . mind you it was fecking freezing sat hanging from a scaffold structure in a harness lol .

it really is sad that some people can not spare 2 mins on this day to pay respect for the service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend and represent their country.

I nearly got caught out by the 2 minute silence but by chance I checked the time just as it hit 11.00. I mentioned it and our table in the restaurant and we all fell silent, the only noise that could be heard was the noise of our children playing in the back ground which made it that much more poignant.

I for one welled up

Good old Leicestershire County Council arb team were doing work on the main street of Ashby de la Zouch , yes they stopped working but couldnt the powers that be have planned a better day to do it as they were obviously in the way of the public trying to watch the parade
