Just had my first hands on experience with the ZigZag... Wow I'm impressed! So much more controlled and responsive than I had imagined, lovely bit of kit, I think these are gonna be real popular!

i wonder what would happen when your rope pulls it to the side (against the rivits) around a branch or fork when your in a tight spot??????? cant be good!

 

That's what I was thinking.

In the event of a swing or loss of balance that then presses the ZigZag sideways into a branch while the climbers full weight is suspended, the torsional loading on each plate and rivet could be eye watering.

 

I wonder if it's been tested this way?

 

I realise that in College we are taught to climb in a way that totally prevents these scenarios arising however, in the real world...............

I can't see them making something like that with out them being replaceable, I maybe wrong but I've not used or seen one in the metal! So I can't say for sure, when I posted that I was told by someone else who had used one, so again not 100%, if there not replaceable then they best be up for long term use!

Nothing is replaceable as far as i know. When it's worn out, it's time to but a new one.

you can buy a lot of friction cord for that money...........the longevity of the device is going to be a key issue. But i am tempted....

Im sure it be similar to the spiderjack in the situation where the lever gets kncoked my something and a slight drop happens but i could be wrong
