Anyone on here visited or spent time in Canada, was looking to visit next year with wifey as somehow managed 25yrs together(can't shake her off)

 

The place seems vast and narrowing the options seems difficult, can anyone recommend places to visit or stay. Not sure whether to organise our own trip or get someone else to manage it so I don't have the hassle:confused1:

Vancover Island, then island hopping some of the smaller ones. Summer skiing on the glacier at Whistler, white water rafting down the Chilliwack, awesome place to go.

You can do a lot worse than renting a camper van in Calgary and head into the Banff and Jasper national parks.

 

Plenty of camping, wildlife and scenery that defies description, get to the ice fields parkway and take a walk on a glacier, if you take nothing else take your camera.

Don't forget the East side: Montreal, Quebec city, the Laurentian Mountains and then a bit of Nova Scotia action.

Montreal's nice. Great lake's are worth seeing. Niagera Falls is awsome Although, Niagera itself is a bit like blackpool. Montreal is also very handy to New England and Vermont in the States. Very leafy and wooded.

 

Don't try and see too much too quickly, as distances are huge. I thought I'd pop down from Montreal to Niagera, to see the falls. Did'nt look far on the map, but it took ages.

 

Never been Vancover side, but I'll bet it's just as good.

Been to BC and Alberta a couple of times. Like others have said, Vancouver Island is lovely, Sea to Sky highway up past whistler and Squamish is fantastic, and the icefields parkway between Jasper and Banff is great too.

 

Depens what you want to do - You could probably easily use up a couple of weeks without leaving Vancouver or you could move somewhere new every day.

 

Both times we landed, picked up a car and just went where we felt like - you'll cover some miles but get to go at your own pace and stop off to see some of the smaller sites that the bus trips go straight past.

 

The last time we went, we took a ferry from the top of Vancouver Island up the inside passage and then drove east down to Jasper and Banff and flew back from Calgary. The ferry is almost like a bit of a mini cruise and goes past some really remote little communities and we even got to see Orcas from the ferry.

When i was a young man i drove from toronto to niagera falls - then when got back to toronto flew to calgary,hired another car and drove round southern alberta then on into bc. One of the prettiest places was banff and lake louise,dare say they still are.

As been said,canada is big.
