trango's are nice, rather stiff sole mind you.... or have they got a more flex sole now?

yea they are pretty stiff soles but are only ridgid(ish) front to back, they have LOADDS of flex side to side which some guys don't like, it is a little disconcerting at first nut i soon got used to it, they say this aids the 'French' style of climbing whatever that is?

man they are no-where near as stiff as those Meindl Alta Via GTX though, they'll give you buckets of support, great for edging on rock but a little stiff for tree climbing for me, hope you get on with them.

Iv gone with a pair of these, Meindl Alta Via GTX. Fancied a pair of Salewa but was sticking in an order with Meindl today and desperately need to replace my current battered boots

I'll report back if there any good!

I have a pair of Meindl Dovre Extreme for shooting, they're lovely boots, seriously comfy, just have to make sure they're done up tight.

I also have a pair of Viking gore tex leather boots, the ones I have are 10 years old now and still going strong, despite being chewed by the dog, used for shooting, walking, climbing, general farming and everything else. Sadly they're discontinued but based on their performance I'll probably go for another pair of Viking when the time comes.... something like these... Genesis Track - Viking Footwear

Thats a little irritating, thanks for the info though, we'll see how I get on.

My mate has a pair Mammut - bought from blacks and they are awesome.

Cant find the model though but they are about 230 nicker.

Personally, if I had to get other or the Crestas were not available I was going to go for the La Spotiva but in green.

La Sportiva Trango S Evo GTX Mens - Green - Telemark Pyrenees Ski and Mountain Equipment

Cheeper than HB, and they only do red ones. Even with delivery they turned out t be competetive.
