Climbing National Park Trees???

Theres a couple of huge redwoods near me in the New Forest that apparently have a book at the top that various tree climbers have signed there name in!!!

 

Me and a few others want to give the 170 foot monster ago!!!!

 

Anyone know the laws of climbing trees in national parks????

Don't do damage, don't get caught :sly:

Once above head height pull your rope up, its surprising how little people look up!

Thinking about doing it with a few others within the next month or so!

Get your camo gear on. How cool, a bit of guerrilla climbing. I think less is more (people that is) and as the only adult here I say COOL!

We've climbed large Beeches this year to dead wood prune in NNP,at Harbottle Castle. They did not ask for any paperwork etc (NOT like FC!!).

But it was paid work, Im sure each area has different attitudes, no harm in asking them, as long as no damage to trees is done why would they say no?

If they give you consent its possible that if an accident happens they could be held liable.

Myself and a couple of friends have looked into climbing the redwoods while we're in california next month, you either have to get special permission from their equivalent of the forestry commision(they do give it) or climb the trees that aren't in the public eye as much, i.e. the ones further in the middle of the park off the general route through. Getting permission is quite hard so we've given up on that. Have fun
