A few from a pine in lymington. The spec was to reduce back to a 2m peg? Anyone know the reason, my only thought was to reduce the wound size ?

Basically opposite the The Borough Arms on Ave road.

The tree would be unlikely to seal a wound of that size, leaving a 2M peg reduces the chances of substantial decay into the retained stem.
