Oh and some pics of the job. An avenue of cedars planted in 1902 as part of the hospital entrance. The trees were about 12 years old when planted according to some of the old boys working there. ImageUploadedByArbtalk1420563375.010157.jpg.bcac9bdb7e72434474456c443706a5e5.jpg

Good stuff Ian.

The near Go-Pro death was great!

Back to it today with this oak that lost about a third of its crown last year. Beside an access road and a public footpath, so client (very, very rich, but a decent bloke) was keen for it to be made safe.

We went for a monolith/Stevie Blair pollard as it's about 7' at the base, twisted, and split right to the ground.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1420571314.175744.jpg.8ccc6aa6815168f43f4d52023b575ff0.jpg

It's not finished by the way.

Got to go back in the morning to rake up??

Hahaha, a lot would of felled it for firewood without a thought of retention.

Let me guess, up to 2" dia logged up?

Fun looking job, though the novelty soon wears off with a big saw on spikes :)

Any targets?

We could chip what we wanted Joe, he's keeping the chip as well.

All cord busted into one man lifts, his gardening team are shifting it.

Pretty target free, just had to mind a sunken wall and an adjacent oak, there were some big heavy laterals, but nothing needed rigging.
