hi has anyone on here done a conversion with a perkins 4362 ( thinks thats the no.?)

engine into a landrover??

was it much work?

and what would one have to pay for an old landrover without an engine??

i have a camper with the perkins engine in thats just about had it due to rust but the engine is low miles and a1 and would be shame to part with it.

thanks carl

Its probably a 4 236 that’s a 4 cylinder with 236 cubic inches of swept volume.

In its day that was a good engine and it will still be running long after many modern units have expired.........but these days its tech is a bit long in the tooth, not high revving so low top end speed, compared to modern units its a heavy old donkey.

If its already in a land rover it will have a conversion plate, if you need one that’s another expense.

All in all I would be tempted to go for a 300TDI

There was good export on the 4236 perhaps sell it and get a more modern unit?

OR......chuck a new chassis under the camper
