Got mine for one job with Carillion but I didn't pay for it so definitely worth it.

Only worth it if you need it. Some contractors absolutely insist on it, to the point where you can't even get on site to quote without one.

We have them. On one of our commercial jobs we can't get passed the security lodge without showing them. The card doesn't cost that much in the great scheme of things so for us well worth having.

I seem to be getting asked more often, but builders are always desperate to have a tree taken out (that should have been done at clearsite stage) that they have let it slide.

 

Do you need to study or is the test pretty simple?

I've had mine for a while now aswell. It got used once, scanned into computer for site h and s and never asked for it again. But get caught not displaying on site and you will get kicked off.

 

Depends if the site foreman is a jobs worth or not. And if he will give the heads up of a site visit from anyone h and s so you can get off site quick before they see you....

 

Guess its like cs Certs now to sites.

 

Touch screen assessment but I wold look into the books. Some of the stuff looks simple but they like to throw a few curve balls into it.

Me, 15 quid down and then 8 minutes in a smelly cabin sitting next to sweaty oiks listening to some saddo remonstrating with invigilator

 

Worth it?

 

You won't get onto a civils site without one and nowadays that includes many house builders. Also you cannot get into cpcs qualifications without having sat one in the last 2 years and the big boys often don't recognise other awarding bodies for things like driving tractors, dumpers telehandlers etc,

There is a book you can study but the three of us just sat the test and all passed. Multi choice and common sense.

Well worth it for the minimal cost, I know you can get on some site without it but it does tend to make life easier and less hassle with it. I think it's gona be more needed in the future.

 

Typical question, you come across an electrical cable what should you do?

 

a) touch it to see if it's live

b) Stay clear and report to your supervisor

c) Stay clear and work round it

d) Have a bucket of water handy in case of fire.

 

It shouldn't be a construction industry test, it should be a test to live without a carer..........
