Yes it was funny, yes i've done things like that in the past. Wouldn't now though so many variables. I to was waiting for it to go over, the guy driving would not have been operating the crane. I was expecting him to get slammed into the road sign !!

As an employee I'm sure it was a great laugh, as an employer its a nightmare, H+S would immediately go through everything with a fine toothed comb: have they bee properly trained in the use of that equipment? If not the employer would have been liable and could have been fined. Thing is though I bet as employees we've all done stuff like that. There's no way I'd have trusted my workmates enough to do that, the hedge ducking was inevitable LOL.

Of course the boss could be the guy in the mog, on the hiab or hanging from it. In his own garden with his brothers who are all partners in the same business. Ifs, maybes and supposes abound like hail. That's the problem with youtube clips; we never know the whole story. As the title of the thread suggests, we may get that full story.

I don't think it was funny, not because it was foolhardy or anything, I just think it scores very low on the slapstick meter.

Interesting comment about the insurance. Surely it would cover you if you have employers liability. Staff do stupid things - that's why we have insurance?

Admitedly they might not insure you at renewal......

Rob

Narr mate the insurance would have no way paid out for that.

If you have a look at EL it is there to cover the employer/company if they do something that puts an employee at risk its not there as an "accident" pay out scheme.

Staff do do stupid things and the company and/or insurance company wont be held responsible unless of course the boss knew all about it then yeah he would probably go to jail if the guy was killed and rightly so along with the driver and the guys operating the crane.

Everyone of them would have been sacked if that was on my time using my gear, you couldnt pass that up as a bit of fun, imagine what else they get up to.:scared1:
