everybody thats recomending a tractor seems to forget one thing....it takes a long time to get anywhere at 20mph....and thats all you are alowed to do in a tractor, I dont care if its got a 40k, or a 50k gearbox, plod WILL prosecute you for speeding, and if they want to push it, theres a dozen other offences related to construction and use they can get you on if you exceed 20mph, its not worth it, get the mog, and use it, itll still be worth the money when you come to sell it on, but youll have had the fun of owning and operating it

If you want to work local then tractor for arb works ok, but some days I can do 300km in the mog.... Running cost in the same range has a small truck 7.5/11 tons. (thats a fact!)

If you buy a clunker the you have no one to blame but yourself, same rule has a truck. Lots of people claiming the expense of running one, just the same has any larger vehicle.

Have them serviced properly, repaired correctly, carry out duty of care, do preventitive maintenance.

The reason for regs on operating licences connected with trucks is 'can you show that you can afford to operate that vehicle' (ie; money put aside, maintenance contract in place etc).

Treat you mog has the above.

If you go out as a haulage contractor and buy a 'clapped out' truck for your business it wouldn't be good practice. I read on here lots looking at bottom end mogs. mogs that have historical issues. Then we have a list of expensive repairs!

You generally get what you pay for. If you are not in a position to buy one, don't get it! doesn't matter if its a landrover/scania/or mog.
