yes well we will, when at times ive paid my men and only got £9 in my own purse to buy a weeks groceries - this has happened many times and still does when people dont pay on time

and that isnt a lie - get real its not only hard for employees but ffing tuff for us as employers and i will get mad defending our stand because you make us all look like idols in ivory towers surrounded by minions working their blocks off - get real we ALL have to work b.dy hard and my husband is still out carting timber NOW and wont be back til gone midnight - who pays his overtime ?? why does he do it, cause their isnt enough hours in the day to fit the repairs in and fetch the timber , thats why.. and no we dont take big wages , we sometimes dont get any money out the business at all - and youll find that across the board

just try and see it from others points of view, try and understand what its like to keep your head above water, keep your men in work cause you dont want to let them go as their friends and want to try and find enough work for everyone

just try, thats all im asking

joy

Know what you're saying regarding paying the guys leaving yourself nothing- I've done my share of that in the past. You do it because you think things will get better- the optomistic employer.

If it keeps happening then you need to act. Shed staff or cut hours - otherwise you'll end up stressed or destroyed by it all.

Funny all the business owners defending paying **** money!

trust me I dont pay **** wages,,,,,my climber gets top dollar cause he does great work, is miles ahead of others who have worked from me,, and is trustworthy and reliable, but i guarantee him work when the going is quiet, but expect graft when its busy,,,it works for both of us,,like logbaron says,,you can only pay what you can afford, and if every tom dick and harry, wants to undercut us, he`ll soon get screwed, when he realises cost involved, true costs not holiday money, beer money, or when his friends have no more work, :sneaky2:

I have looked at other point of views and i hear what your saying, but i still don't think the money is enough, which is my point of view. Britain has to be the lowest payed wages in this industry that ive seen, yet this recession is affecting so many country's yet alot are still paying better wages, sorry i just can't get my head around it.
