Why was this done 1 week before the APF?

Surely it would of made sense to have him in the main Arena!

20 thousand cutters sitting like little kids in awe of him!

I'm not sure what Graeme's plans are after the AA conference, maybe he's going to APF as a visitor.

Long way to come without taking it in.

Good point though Stevie. :thumbup1:

I got the impression its not the first time Sherbrooke have been over here on the conference circuit.

Having had a chat with Paul (AA techie) last night, it would of been a good idea (with hindsight) for the AA to highlight these types of oportunities more often & more visibly here at Arbtalk & elsewhere.

I too failed to notice any effective publicity for the evening talk. I might have found a way of getting there if I'd realised. Might even have made the last train home as well if I'd got away by 2230.

I'm a trifle skint at the moment though, so maybe not. But I wouldn't have minded being in a position to make the choice.

Last nights AA conference was a fine evening of socialising, networking & being inspired by one the most remarkable tree men from around the globe.

Graeme McMahon of Sherbrooke Tree Services gave a very good talk & presentation of some of their most challenging rigging work in Australia.

Although I really enjoyed the evening & subsequent chat with the great man himself, it was painfully clear that there were not the expected number (certainly from my expectations) of climbing & grounding Arbs.

Instead, the pre event wine reception, bbq & campus bar was populated mostly by consultants & tree officers.

Great for them & us who did go, but a huge oportunity missed by everyone else.

The AA had put this evening event on with the hope of attracting those who couldn't make the day time lectures at a time which should have given people the oportunity to have come along after work.

Started at 19:15 & finished around 22:30

It was about £20 to attend and open to members & non members alike.

So my question is, why were you not there ???

Didnt know it was like that, would have gone to this otherwise.:001_huh:
