The "dog bone" is a replacement for the top krab. I will still knot the cordage below it to fine tune it's function, but the primary connection will be to the krab.

 

What do ropetek recommend for the stopper knots? double overhand?

 

just wondered how tight they'll get with a climber and his chainsaw etc, that's why I mentioned using another steel biner through the top that'd still allow you to fine tune the hitch

Ok, so I guess comparisons possibly shouldn't be made between the two mechanisms, BUT, they will be.

 

So, from my point, although my amount of climbing time is much reduced to how it used to be, I still do bits and pieces. Therefore, the plus points I see in this HH is that there is no tether. I can only see an issue with having to deal constantly with this, being cumbersome and generally getting in the way. One point I can see is that the RW rides higher in the set up due to being above the hitch, therefore a good chance of being smacked in the face by it, if, for instance you were to stand on a branch without advancing.

 

Perhaps those with experience of the RW may be able to throw light on the differences, as, as yet I have not made a decision for the way forward for me yet, although the HH mechanism is ticking the boxes for me so far, as an aid to an ageing, overweight grumpy.

I don't know what ppls problem is with the wrench hitting their face,I've had mine for ages and never even had a tickle from it.

Please don't be put off by this as its really not a major issue,but I am interested to see this review.

Ok but surely the distance from harness bridge to RW is greater than distance from bridge, through HH to hitch. If that makes sense.

A quick bit of feed-back on the H-H;

 

The system itself is a joy to use & tends & switches from ascent to descent seamlessly. It fuctions well both with a single line & when used with traditional dDrt.

 

The major negatives at this moment are my flounderings with my attempts to learn srt climbing. I look like a three legged rino learning ballet at best

 

 

I will come back & post a serious & more comprehensive warts & all review in a month or so. Hopefully my skills will allow me to objectively test this bit of kit by then
