4x4 more economical than a hilux?

who says vitaras have to be hairdresser cars and the v6 is fast! not very economical though 14-18mpg

i like the rodeos and heard the isuzus are pretty solid, little bit pricey for me at the moment though does anyone have any experience of the troopers?

 

unfortunatly i think i would be stuck pretty quick in a transporter or caddy!

Subaru legacy - not hugely better on fuel but on LPG are very cheap to run and really will go further off road than you think they will.

 

Trooper's are quite heavy on fuel.

 

To be honest, if you're only looking to swap to omething more economical, then it's not going to be hugely better than the hilux really. Why not just keep the hilux?

Most pickups are going to be somewhere between 25-35mpg. I got around 3 extra mpg buy getting a metal lid for the pickup bed.

 

My 07 Navara does around 33mpg with AT2 tyres on. Sometimes though you've just got say i want the 4x4 and i'll live with the poor mileage.

I've been towing a 2 ton digger behind my ranger this week and I've averaged 19mpg. Looking for something a bit cheaper to run as we've got alot of work coming up that involves towing a digger.

yeah this is actually my take on it, but thought i would go through the motions of looking to keep the mrs happy, quiet life and all that

 

it seems if i did want something noticably better it would need to be newer which i cant afford anyway!

I would imagine you could easily spend more money on changing the vehicle, insurance costs, etc than it would actually save you in fuel because lets face it, a really useful four wheel drive that is really economical doesn't exist!

 

Keep what you've got - it sounds like it performs the roles you need a vehicle for and you know the vehicle and what's been done to it.
