Got a series 3 landy with some freewheeling hubs on the front that were leaking oil. I replaced the gasket & put more oil in & it is now worse than befor!

What have I done wrong? The ball is pitted & I have smeared grease over it in a hope this mite help..

am i right in thinking you need to drain oil from each side and refill with a 'one-shot' of grease? then it can't leak anymore..

Well my 130 is back on the road with a rebuilt transfer box and fresh MOT. only ran out in January so not too bad!!!

My TD5 disco has had an engine transplant then the head gasket went so thats just been replaced.

I love land rovers but they do test us at times.

yes ,it will slow the leak down but either fit a pair of new swivel balls(NOT A BAD JOB)or fill your pitted holes up with araldite or liquid metal then when its dry and hard sand down till its smooth. its does work and lasts for a good while but long aset off swivel balls are needed.

Firstly get rid of the Free wheeling hubs, more trouble than there worth. Fit new swivels and use grease and should be all fine.
