If you own an elbow on your right arm its a no brainer, disco all the way, subject to mechanical and rot caveats

 

All feels tight, traceable local service paper, always waxoyled etc. New rear floor from leaky alpine window, tin otherwise solid everywhere. Raised 1" but stiffer New springs. And yes, wouldn't look forward to family visits to Gloucestershire in the 110 drivers seat.

 

Tom, thanks for offering to strain my already aching wee brain with a 3rd choice but I'll pass for now.

 

Btw, any news on doing the Ash survey I mailed you about?

 

Make sure you tell the insurer when they say, "modified in any way"

Hmm, good point, do they tend to take a dim view?

 

They do if you don't tell them, I know of one disco that had a 300tdi in it (I fitted it) as a replacement for a 200 that ran on its own oil, the owner never thought to inform the insurer and when it got in a smash the loss adjuster wasn't at all happy, any excuse not to pay out.

 

A small lift like that isn't too significant, larger lifts affect prop angles and suspension components which in turn affect handling, (not that they ever went round corners like they are on rails anyhow:laugh1:)

Not really an excuse not to pay out when they were insuring a 200TDi Discovery and it wasn't! The way I always look at insurance is how did the vehicle leave the factory. What's the point of paying insurance if you are not going to declare everything because you'll be the first to complain when they don't pay out. I have this argument every year with my best mate who has a 1985 110 hi cap listed on the log book as a 2.25 diesel - its got a 200TDi fitted, 235 85 16 mud terrains, power steering and metallic paint job!! definitely not as it left the factory.

Well, the mildly lifted Disco it is, should have it Monday after the failed replacement headlining has been glued back on LOL.

 

So having bought a cheapie wagon I am now going to blow some money on a spanking new Border Reiver recurve bow, before the first major repair bill comes on.

 

And the 110 owner has decided to keep it, so a result all round. For now at least.
