I never turn the bar because I don't like the name (stihl, oregon etc) upside down.

 

I lost a customer (domestic) once because I turned his bar. He said I obviuosly was no good as I had returned the saw to him after service and could not even manage to put the bar on the right way.

Haha..I normally file my chains any old how, it does make a big difference in performance for me to spend some time sharpening a chain instead of rushing it.

 

One tip I learnt from 3dogs was to always do the last two strokes very lightly to get a better edge.

 

agree with that too, I always slow the last one or two down and really look at the hardening flake at the lip, pulling up on the file if its not quite right.

 

I think i might be saddo too!:lol:

I used to knock the burrs off but don't any more - not sure if it does chip the tooth... but not saying it doesn't!

 

 

Getting the mill ready for a big log it's nice to take the time the evening before to get it as good as possible as it just seems to keep it's edge so much longer.
