Thanks for the recommendations,it looks as though the overall view is that stihl is the best saw for me (ms250 i think),now can anyone point me in the direction of a good (cheap) online supplier

I dont want to put a downer on it but the truth is youre MS180 wont last very long. I,d spend £300 to £400 whether it be Husky or Stihl.

for a fire wood saw the husqvarna 365 would be my choice enough power and revs but not as highly strung as some of the pro range.

Im Stihl through and through but totally agree for an all round saw (15 - 24")this cannot be beaten. Got one a few years back when I could not afford a saw for every job and it has done me proud. Dont think you will get one for that money now though.

 

 

 

A 230 for firewood?

Used one for years to climb with. As soon as I got a T and used 230 for ground work it could not cope. Unlike the 365 a 230 is def a sei-pro, just IMO, everyone has there own views/experiances.

I have all stihl aprt from a husqy 357xpg which I use for logging firewood, cracking little saw
