2 thing catch my eye u have spikes on so why leave stubs and pegs

the other is on the last pic what are the 2 lines u cut under ur back cut i can understand the top one as a guide to where u are going to cut ur back cut

and ur back cut is a fair way over ur gob for hinge wood

The bottom most line (looks like a cut) is a mark to guide our base cut for the notch. The middle is the line and the top is the cut. I see wot u mean, but i think the camera has caught it at a weird angle.

 

Is it bad practice to leave stubs? leave them so my main line has something to choke on if anything should happen.
