90% of the time its fine , the other 10% its not . Same goes for the felling rope . For us its not the money its coiling the bugger up after !

Do you climb trees taller than 18.5 metres?

 

Most of my work in cambridgeshire is in tiny trees so I mostly use a 30 metre rope. I keep a 50m in the bag for special occasions though.

I have used the full lenght of my 45m rope on a couple of times in the last year or so. Both times i have been very glad that i had it. Most of the time i use 2 20m ropes, and find they are plenty .

I was half expecting you to say to buy a 30 metre rope, rope wrench and climb srt so it'll be good for 60 metre trees.

DOH!, Me being dozy, I reckon the rains washed a few of the remaining brain cells away.

 

A 30 metre rope would allow for 30 metre trees or 29 metre, allowing 1 metre for the running bowline.

 

It was meant to be tongue in cheek as Old Mill Trees seems to be a bit evangelical about the RW.

 

I have a couple of 45 ish metre ropes and a 20 which seems to suit the work I get. Seem to be using the 45 metre Tachyon a lot lately.

Actually it would do me fine as I never go more than halfway up a tree anyway. I normally spike a third of the way up and then fell the top out. Thats on pruning jobs obviously.
