I'll have to treat myself- if only for the lightness

Up to now I've been happy to throw the maul at everything except kindling but I guess its quite a heavy throw and maybe my back would appreciate a rest

 

It would certainly get one - when I pick up the X27 after an hour or two with the maul, it feels light as a feather!

The Vipukirves seems ok when you get the knack......I've tried it briefly on some dead beech and some green ash and it held it's own...I still use the maul along with wedges and a grenade...i'll be testing it properly this week as I've had 3 orders come in this week!! Rains good for one thing!
