waste carriers licence

Does that mean if I take purchased food in wrappings and plastic bags for use at lunchtime then to take it back to be recycled I would need a waste carriers licence?

Some of the licence wording is open to different people to make own decisions. The rules are being made up with office people who have no idea on the tree/farm work and possible wastes.

Numerous Ford Transits around before last week collecting scrap metal with no signs/no load netting/overladen/no doubt with no waste licence but the local council and Police/VOSA appear to allow bending of the rules for certain people. All paid in cash at the weighbridge!!

It tells you on the environment agency website that a tree surgeon carrying green waste doesn't need a WCL:

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/static/documents/Business/Who_should_register.pdf

Scroll down to page 4 and says that trees surgeons with green waste don't need a WCL until after December 2013! I have printed this off and keep a copy in the truck just incase i get pulled.

I have put this link up before on here but people still don't believe it because "mr environment agency" has told them they need one! If its in back and white on their website, they haven't got a leg to stand on.

For those of you who have bought one, i would fight it out to get a refund out of principle!

So going by this, I don't need one until the end of next year. :001_smile:

We have had a wcl for a number of years now - many of our clients have asked for details at tender stage - the wcl as far as i was informed when we first enquired is only for the carrying of waste and not the destination (this is supposed to be backed up by transfer tickets!). I was told that wood chip and logs would not need a wcl. But stump grindings (contain soil) grass cuttings/hedge cuttings etc do - i think (cant be sure as it was ages ago) the reason being grass etc is classed as an active waste. I think it is a load of b/s but it could save a lot of time and shut people up if you get pulled imo!!
