you could get a tx200 with a decent scope s/h for £250ish or maybe if your lucky a tx200 sport for the 300 both are said to be the best spring rifles on the market

In your price range (almost) I am very pleased with Weihrauch HW95K springer with a reasonable scope. It is quite light weight as well. It was new so took a good few tins of pellets to settle in. However, it is a bit noisy compared to a PCP when cocking, loading, safety off and firing.

 

I have tried briefly a HW97K which is more expensive, but I suspect it would produce more repeatable results than my 95. The mechanisms to use it seems to be slightly quieter as well. If I could afford it.

I've got an Edgar Brothers Model 100 .22 underlever with a Hawke Sport HD 3-9x40 scope gathering dust on my shelf. It was bought by my father-in-law in a moment of overenthusiasm with the notion that he'd use it for vermin control. As far as I know it has never been fired.

 

You could undoubtedly get better for £300 (I don't know much about air rifles, but I'm pretty sure this is nothing special), but you can have the lot for £100 plus postage if that's of any interest?

I've got a .177 BSA r 10 mk2 with MTc mamba scopes and silencer very nice gun.

Anybody got any experience of the Stoeger x20 suppressor?

 

I want to get an air rifle just for plinking at cans and targets and these are supposed to be really quiet, which will come in handy living in Manchester

Would love some of the aforementioned rifles but I got a second hand Webley Vulcan .177 with a tasco(?) scope 5 years ago for £80 with a bag from a local dealer.

 

Few rabbits/pigoens at close range, it could easily handle rats I reckon.

 

Got a cheapie laser sight from ebay and it stays pretty true.

 

You could then spend the other £200 quid on beer and then fritter the rest away...
