I was thinking where had this thread gone. A good groundy must be able to judge the smooth deceleration of a piece of timber. Confirm a plan of action with the climber as well as telling him it's too big.

Sometimes it is not only the size/weight of the piece for the shape. An experienced climber will pick and choose the pieces to be lowered not only to be able to clear obstacles but to make it easier to receive by the guys on the deck.

 

Sometimes I will rigg and number of pieces at the same time so when the head is broken down and lowered it takes up less space.
