Presented by FR Jones and Son, the Arb and Forestry Event will be hosted by Kingswood Training Services in Shipbourne, Kent on 13-14 July 2012. Organised with the working arborist and forestry professional in mind, this show really should have something for everyone.

Including competitions, demonstrations and seminars, there will be plenty to see and do; highlights of the show itinerary will be the Three Peaks Arb Ascent challenge in aid of Help for Heroes, the South East regional heat of the Arboricultural Association Arborist Tree Challenge (3ATC) competition and the return of the ISA UK&I ArborCamp.

Visitors will be treated to a great range of traders and exhibitors offering the chance to see, test and buy the best new products available. Featuring MEWPS, chippers, saws, stump grinders, insurance and more shiny things than you can shake a stick at!

Free entry, free parking and free on-site camping

Entry, parking and on-site camping remain absolutely free of charge at the Arb and Forestry Event, making this a very accessible show.

While camping is free, we do need to manage numbers, so please fill out the online booking form first if you intend to camp.

The Three Peaks Arb Ascent

Sponsored by Trust Insurance and Stein, in aid of Help for Heroes, the aim of the challenge is to climb the combined height of the Three Peaks (Scafell Pike 3162ft, Snowdon 3560ft and Ben Nevis 4409ft) using multiple fixed-line ascents to a point set at 50ft within the tree canopy. This makes a total of 11,131ft over 223 ascents, which we will attempt to have completed within the 2 days of the Arb and Forestry Event.

This is a team effort to reach a set goal, not a competition, so we will not be timing any of the climbs. There will, however, be special prizes awarded for:

  • Most ascents
  • Fanciest dressed ascent
  • Most ‘creative’ ascent (but please remember this is a family show!)
  • Oldest climber
  • Youngest climber

For more details about the challenge and how to take part, please visit the show website at www.frjonesandson.co.uk/show/the-three-peaks-arb-ascent/

ISA UK&I ArborCamp

After its success last year, the ISA UK&I ArborCamp will return to the Arb and Forestry Event for 2012. The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is the worlds biggest group of professional arborists with over 20,000 members, distributed throughout 38 "Chapters" across the 5 continents.

The ISA ArborCamp is intended to be a combination of education, networking and social interaction for arborists from all backgrounds. The ISA will be putting on a wide variety of workshops and seminars at the show over both days, so don’t miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and pick up some new tricks.

For more information about the ISA, go to www.isa-arboriculture.org.

3ATC Competition

3ATCThe South East regional heat of the Arboricultural Association Arborist Tree Challenge (3ATC) climbing competition is becoming a regular feature of the Arb and Forestry Event.

Safely climb around the tree canopy in one of three levels; Novice, Expert or Premier. With £300 of prizes already donated by 3ATC sponsors FR Jones and Son and Stein, it's got to be worth having a go. Entry fee remains only £10 and all entrants will receive a Stein goody bag!

For entry forms and more information go to www.3atc.com.

Axe Throwing competition

Channel your inner Viking Warrior and try your luck in our axe-throwing competition. That’s right – take your stress out on a defenceless target, feel better and oddly primeval at the same time (horned helmet optional).

Not only can you win the kudos of being the most skilled axe warrior, but it's only £2 entry for 5 throws and all proceeds go straight to the Children’s Trust.

Time to start perfecting your best war-cry…

Seminars and workshops

It's not all fun and games - this is a trade event after all! Come and learn something new from one of our wide range of seminars, talks and workshops including:

  • “Arb Master Classes” (with the UKI 2012 Tree Climbing Competition Champions)
  • Tree dismantling workshop (by Kingswood Training Services)
  • “Tree Climbers Corner” (run by the ISA ArborCamp)
  • An update of pest & disease management strategies (Bartlett Tree Experts)
  • Soil de-compaction demonstration (Bartlett Tree Experts)

Also, new for this year; learn about the Business end of Arb and Forestry with these expert sessions from Elcoat Ltd:

  • Customer Care
  • Marketing
  • Business Terms and Conditions

Tug-of-War

A big hit last year, the Tug-of-War competition will return again to allow the reigning champions the opportunity to defend their trophy.

Enter a team of 5 members to challenge their title.

Networking and social

We know this isn’t the reason you come to the shows (much) but, to help you relax and mingle with your fellow professionals, there will be a quality catering stall and well-stocked bar, which we’re sure will help refresh you after a hard day’s work. The bar and catering will be open late on the Friday evening and we will be hosting some musical entertainment and a bonfire to aid with the networking activities.

The Arb and Forestry Event is a return to the shows of old, with its relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on the social side of professional networking. Definitely not one to miss.

Cheers Peter.

I've got you booking form.

I need to get behind letting everyone know about the show now. We want to make this the show that everyone enjoys and wants to attend.

In keeping the cost of the show down, free entry, parking, camping etc etc... and very good prices for a stand, we need the good old word of mouth and emails to work for us.

So if you know people that want to have a good laugh and pick up a deal, let them know I'm sure they will appreciate it, as will I.:001_smile:

There are links here anyone can use to put on there website.
