Did these little kids chairs at the weekend Still need a fair bit of sanding mind.

The bases are hollowed out in the hope of minimising any splits, time will tell if it worked.

nice mate,,hope you didnt get the washing dirty,,you`ll be in trouble,,lol

Ha,no not this time:001_smile:

hollowed out? last "butt" table I made gave me bleeding knuckles from kickbacks. Do you know something I dont?, like a better way?

I do like the design, esp that first pic. But do get a flap-disk on them you lazy tyke :D

Yeh they look a bit scruffy at the mo. The furry one's poplar so you can imagine how wet it was. Thought I'd let them dry a bit more so they don't clog the flap discs.

I did get one kickback and took a slice in the base:001_rolleyes:

Don't be thinking I know it all,may be I just got lucky.

For anyone who doesn't know, it's just a series of plunge cuts spaced about 1/2 inch between cuts. Going in at a low angle for the first few inches and slowly raising angle to 90 to the log face vastly reduces risk of sore knuckles:001_tongue:

I particularly like the tear drop cut outs at the back Si - I think they make all the difference - in fact may have a go at making one :blushing::biggrin:

i ditto that. thats what I call real honest grass roots 'furniture of the woods', and takes me back, oooh, 25 years when my staple diet was psilocybin and discovered my love for this kinda stuff
