I get your point, totally! The legs are often an afterthought with many furniture makers. And I would say the same as you here. While no man has the right to critique another's work ( I'm personally sick of that current 'everyone has a valid opinion' trend, it's a load of kak) but I will say, in building ones furniture, a quote comes to mind by George Clinton. ( Parliament Funkadelic )......"nothing is funky unless you play with it"

you might slightly have not got my point there.. while for me, i always look at the legs (yeah, that too) what people generally look at, is the whole. They look at something objectively.. we, as the craftsman, look at it subjectively, we see every tiny detail. When we are working, the wood speaks. People make up their minds on something in ONE second, and what speaks is the whole.

 

things should always be funky.. that's putting your soul into it !

I think Trollspiel is not meaning to be offensive but maybe coming in from a different perspective....

 

I think this design is a good formula in terms of time to build, wood it uses and what you can sell it for. You could try variations on the legs but is this going to change the price you sell it for? Or be less work? Make it more sellable?

 

Prob not and considering these last 2 have sold quick enough why change it.
