The fallen limb on the left looks tricky, a lot of weight and compression.

 

For the standing part of the tree id go with "mozzas" idea.

 

How about a tirfor (sp?) winch?

 

have got lorry mounted winch but have feeling which ever way its pulled its gonna be un predictable

got to fell this next week,think i will probably have to climb it as its in such a state (cracks right down trunk/ganoderma/ionotus etc) that im concerned its just gonna explode if i fell it at base,LOT of weight on that large limb! Thoughts please. will take some better photos when doing it

 

is it just in the middle of a field? can you not just leave it be?
