Saving trees condemned to felling-help!

Recommended Posts

The title is deliberate, for the purpose is to save trees that folk are desperate save from felling (not reduction)

I hope those that need it most will find it, after recieving late in the day a plea for help on some condemned beeches, which a company wanted £3500.00 to give a no guarantee diagnosis! when if it was a do or die situation an increment core and fracto test could have been done for 1/10th of that fee, £350.00:sneaky2:

So if YOU have a need of a second opinion because someone has condemned your beloved trees and you want to save them by various means and need an advocate please let us know here first.

I've had enough of seeing trees needlessly condemned when a good management plan could see them retained for in many cases decades and longer.

we cant save em all I know, but we want to help and do what we can.

So tell us about your trees, and let us see if we can turn tides

£3500, what for?! A condition survey on a beech tree or two?! Scandalous... I hope this thread has the desired effect, and that anyone looking to find ALTERNATIVES TO FELLING their trees which they would rather keep, finds help here.

It is quite a rare tree which MUST be felled for safety with no options for retention. (For a fair bit less than that price too!)

People need to be very careful if they are going to advice that a tree is "safe" especially if others are recommending removal.

Any one offering such advice will obviously need PI insurance and they need to read the term of their insurance and take great care to work within the limits of that insurance.

Well said that man.

There is a school of thought that wants to hang on to trees that are compromised until the very last moment.

Anyone in that position needs to give serious consideration to tier exposure, the term reasonable foreseeability is key.

So here we are, guilty of the heinous crime that is under cutting opposition in business. The very core of several threads on this very forum, which as tree care professionals we all try to fight to maintain a decent price fo our work. Then figures of one tenth of the cost quoted are bandied about.

We dnt need outsiders to criticise our pricing structure, we have people on the inside undermining us at all levels.

Tree care is an industry, a business, a profession at certain levels, and with all professions come costs and expenditure. Its about time some people saw it as such.
