Owned and/or driven most Land Rovers ad Toyota - always loved the British ness of the Landy but if you were going anywhere difficult you'd be mad not to take a Cruiser.

I drove a 130 London to Cape Town, then settled in Southern Africa for a couple of years, purchased a safari prepped 80 series almost by accident and have never looked back - Land Cruiser all the way.

Loads of Landie forums out there, but if looking at Cruisers try:

Also if you need any mechanical or technical advice about Cruisers the man for the job is Julian at Overland Criuisers, imo the best Land Cruiser man in the UK.

what discoverys 17k get me one lol the amazon is well over priced they all are they arent worth the money a disco tdv6 would auto is a much faster car than a amazon ive drove both hard top end and standing start the amazon wouldnt touch it

In 1997 when the cruiser you had on an 07 plate was born it was £40,000 the discovery was half the price and power. The latest Landcruiser has been out 4 years with a v8 diesel and costs £54,000 which is what you should compare the latest discovery with. Personally I dont buy them for speed and I have to buy mine not my daddy. :001_smile:

The Aussies would pee themselves at some of the statements on this thread

I would think every nationality outside the uk is rolling around on the floor now. Its the maestro van rear lights and morris marina door handles that always did it for me. Guess I will just have to suffer the big knobs in my Landcruiser

I love Land Rovers and have owned many. I will never make the same mistake again. For the last 15 years I have owned Toyotas almost exlusively. Only excursion has been to Mercedes Benz. I'm not going back.

Land Rovers have something. They are great off road. There is something truly British about them which draws us to them. But at the end of the day, they are crap. That's about the end of it.

Sums it up for me as well... I remember my 90 pickup sitting on my drive broken diffs knackered gear box and one of my dads mates who was a Northumbrian hill farmer coming over who now drives a land cruiser getting really excited about taking it appart right there and then.. I had to refuse his offer but he obviously missed fixing his landys !

You know what they say:biggrin:

If you want to go to the Outback.................take a Landrover

If you want to go to the Outback and return home...............take a Toyota Landcruiser
