Amazing how politicians inflict sanctions on Iran, North Korea - select regime of choice in the name of 'democracy' but act in exactly the same manner when dealing with their own electorate. I doubt it very much that even if correctly implemented, which government IT projects never are that it would prevent anything as even the most computer illiterate terrorist has heard of PGP and strong encryption.

 

People who value privacy will use VPNs that guarantee 100% security & privacy using military grade encryption to access offshore servers for their mail.

 

And as for the "Ive got nothing to hide and thus nothing to fear" brigade, this is a myth built on false assumptions.

They are only able to see who is communicating with who, if they want to read the content of your emails they will still need a court order.
