3-5 years in a plastic can or machine fuel tank as Eddy_t says before Aspen starts to change so it will still work.

I was shown 10 year old Aspen kept in a metal jerry can, it was put into a strimmer and it started up first pull!!!

Thats a fair comment, and many would agree with you.

 

But there are also many who use it and find that the extra cost is well worth it to them.
