One reason I use Aspen

Ive held back from Aspen for a while due to 3 machines running ruff after 1 can of Aspen, it had been used in the machines prior to this can but a 200t, hl 85 and a generator all went down with a mystery ailments. And of the 2 machines stripped down both had a waxy residue in the carbs. The hl was first on the bench and only ran ok after a new carb, valves ect.the 200 is still with the dealer and they're now looking at crank seals because all else has been ruled out and the geny is sat in the shed because its hunting.

I have praised Aspen on this thread and by no means am I 100 % sure its whats caused the problem but im now spooked and back using husky low smoke in the 200 and hl. The 200 had only been run on aspen and done no more than 20 tanks over a 18 month period.

Hi Pat,

please let me know the name of the dealer working on your kit as I would love to see it and know more!

I am sure Aspen is not the cause, but I like to check things out in full

Eddie

Hi Eddie the hedge cutter was back in the spring and I posted on this thread at the time, also pm ing you my local dealer and informing them that you might call.

The 200 isnt going to help alot either as it's had a few tank fulls through it since the early spring. In the hope it might right its self.

Its alkylate fuel....mate....., no different now to then and the last time I used it was about 12 months ago

Don't ventilatie assumptions from your side that are based on nothing treequip!

My mate Wouter tested a new formula Aspen. He did this from March 12 2013. All machines where checked with an endoscope before and after testing.

This new formula is now on the market since two months.

Aspen uses a different oil in their Aspen 2. This oil leaves zero carbon in the engine.

Break down temperatures are now far beyond any other petrol. Even far beyond Motomix!

Confidence is so great that Aspen now even has entered top class motorcycle racing.

Write what you know treequip, check your facts or state that something is only your assumption.

Ok so they tweaked it a little, recently but I know that by and large, alkylate is alkylate, and I didn't make holes in anything:laugh1:

A car is a car, a house is a house, a tree is a tree. Should we continue?

You are right (sort of) regarding the alkylate bit. It's the added 'oil' that does the trick. Waving this away as a minor tweak is not doing justice to the achievement of Aspen.

By all means, keep mixing your own smelly deadly brew. The advantage of that is that in the end you don't even remember we had this chat!

Do you think I put special brew in the saws?:laugh1:

Treequip, I fully endorse anyone who questions hard commercial enterprise, or anything for that matter, but in general the fuel works well in saws, it is a fact that it contains less of the nasty additives, ( which we breath in from a close quarter used 2 stroke), & is more stable when left in a combi can, ( which we all use).

It is more expensive to use, fact, it can be harder to attain for too many people, these are the stumbling blocks.

So in a succinct reply can you enlighten me to your reasons for scepticism on this type of fuel? as I stand rather perplexed, & as a rule respect your knowledge & input.

Empty the chain oil tank of your chainsaw and open the adjuster screw to setting full. Buy just one liter of rapeseed oil. Fill your saw up, use it and tell us what you thought of it. It's not gonna break your bank.

I quoted the Aspen bar oil price from their website - I didn't say I used it. Although I would if it were cheaper. At the moment, I'm finishing off 5L of Oregon mineral bar oil. Although I might nip and get some rapeseed oil off the shelf for comparison. If it works out cheaper and I can't see how it would not and it works in the cut, I may just be a convert.
